Post Yogging Injury

by noelle on July 26, 2008

Well not an injury per se, but after my jogging experience the other day, my thighs were killing me.  It was at the point where I was having a hard time getting up and down.  Today is the first day that I am not in pain.  Needless to say, I haven’t been out there again.  I have been on the elliptical, but not to jog again.  I know that if I want to do this, I will have to get out there again, but I have been in too much pain to try again.

Today I went to The Bay to take a look at the china I want to register for.  Up until today, I have only seen it online, but I saw it in person today, and I love it even more.  I loved it so much, that I actually setup the registry today.  I also went to the bridal store with my mom to take a look at the dress she wants.  She knows what dress she wants, but is not sure of the colour.  We have to go back next Saturday so that my girls can get measured and order their dresses.  I also tried on another dress by the same maker of my dress, and since losing more weight, it looks even better.  I have to order my dress by mid September, so in about two months, so I am really hoping to lose about 15 more pounds in the two months, which is rather ambitious, and I probably won’t be able to do it.  But that is my goal.  I am getting very excited.

Today I had the nifty idea that I was going to start jogging. I have been working out for about 6 months now, so I figured that I should have built up enough stamina and increased my cardio enough that I would be able to jog. I envisioned putting on my running shoes, stepping out of the door and jogging away. I was wrong.

Apparently, what I though was jogging, is actually running, so what I was doing was trying to run. Regardless, I was only able to run for about a minute at a time, at which point my stomach cramped up and I was winded.

For six months I have been busting my ass on the eliptical, and 5 minutes of jogging totally kicked my ass. I know now that I need to slow my pace and jog, not run. I am also sure that my breathing is probably way off and I need to practice breathing better, so I don’t get winded.

Anyway, I am really going to try to slowly increase the amount of time that I can jog. It would be nice to be able to mix it up a little bit, and not have to be on the eliptical every day. We will see how this works out.

The Knitty Gritty

by noelle on July 21, 2008

There comes a point in every summer where I become totally sick of the warm weather, and can’t wait for fall to come, so I can bust out the sweaters and scarves! Fall is by far my favourite time of year. It just so happens that my birthday, and favourite holiday take place in the fall as well. I love the smell of the fallen leaves, the warm coffees or hot chocolates, and of course HALLOWEEN! Anyway, at the time when I get sick of summer, I usually start knitting again. Well I started again yesterday.

I don’t know if I ever mentioned this, but knitting is my favourite hobby by far, and one of the only ones that I started, and continued doing. Don’t ask about the scrapbooking fiasco. How did I start knitting you ask? I was at Zellers one day about 5 years ago and decided that I wanted to knit. I bought the necessary supplies, and went home. I then learned to knit from the internet. I knit differently than most, using a technique called combination knitting. You can check out this technique by googling it, or checking out http://www.anniemodesitt.com/ I find that with this way of knitting, stitches are much more consistent, and it is mucho faster.

Anyhow, I picked up my needles again and started working on this sweater that I absolutely adore. I can’t wait to wear this one, and I hope it turns out. I have never knitted a yoke sweater before!

Is it Friday yet?

by noelle on July 16, 2008

My shoulder is killing me. I don’t know what happened to it. But since yesterday, I am finding it very hard to move. It feels like the spot is under my shoulder blade, so any movement of my right arm, is extremely painful.

I need to take a picture of Vlad and myself. I need a good pic to put on our Save the date magnets, that I will need to send out soon. I have a lot of family from the states coming to our wedding, and in January you will need a passport to travel back and forth, so I want to send them a warning that they need to get a passport or they will not be able to come. So I want to take an engagement type pic of us to put on it. Our real engagement pics are not going to be done until October, so I do not want to wait that long.
I need to get to the camera store to get a remote for my D80, so I can take a picture of us without having to set the timer.

I also need to get over to The Bay to take a look at the China I want to register for. They don’t have the exact one, but they have another colour. I am pretty sure I am going to go with this one, but I still want to see it in person. I might be able to get over there today, but I don’t know, because I am the “driver” tonight, and have to drive Vlad and his friend to Jujitsu. So we will see.

It’s been a while

by noelle on July 11, 2008

Wow…it has been a while since I wrote anything here. I am so tired today. My cat fluffy woke me up at 4:00 in the morning wanting food, and would not leave me alone at all. I can’t wait to go home today and take a nap. TGIF! Not much is new since the last time I was here. I am still planning the wedding. Getting closer now. LOL…but still quite some time away. I told my dad we are getting married. He reacted better than I thought he would. It’s a long story. So far I have everything done, except booking the florist, and a hairdresser. So basically we are just saving money until the big day! So far I have done the following:

  • Booked the ceremony site
  • Booked the reception site
  • Booked a decorator
  • Booked a photographer
  • Booked a Caterer
  • Booked a DJ
  • Booked a limo
  • Booked a Makeup Artist
  • Booked an officiant
  • Bought my Stationary (Invites/menus)
  • Designed Save the Date magnet
  • Found my dress
  • Found my mom’s dress
  • Found the Bridemaid/MOH dresses
  • Bought my shoes (ceremony and reception)
  • Bought my tiara

There is probably some stuff that I am forgetting as well, but that is all I can think of right now.

The big thing I have to do right now is the wedding website. Once I do that, there will be a lot more wedding details there.

I also need to take a picture of Vlad and myself to put on the save the date card. I am trying to get into photography again. I need to start taking my camera around with me, so that I can actually take some pictures. Anyway…I will try to update more frequently again. See ya!
