Honeymoon

by noelle on February 26, 2009

We have finally decided where we are going on our honeymoon.  Negril, Jamaica!  I am so excited.  We are planning on staying at the Couples Negril resort.  I have researched this for months, and finally decided on this resort because anyone that stays there says it’s paradise on earth.  Almost all the reviews are excellent.  I am so excited!!!!!  Here are some pics of the resort.

I haven’t been on vacation for years.  I am looking forward to the honeymoon more than the wedding!  This place seems to have it all.  Everything is included.  There are so many included activities too!  I am going to book this in the next couple days.  Did I mention that I am totally excited!!!

Here is an idea of what is included:

  • 18 acres of lush tropics and white beaches
  • 234 exquisitely appointed rooms & suites
  • Five unique restaurants
  • Four bars, including swim-up and piano
  • Shuttle to Margaritaville
  • Shopping excursions to Downtown Negril
  • Watersports & Scuba
  • Glass-bottom Boat Tour
  • Catamaran Cruise
  • Unlimited Golf (transfers and green fees included. Caddy mandatory at a nominal charge)

I need to go shopping for some vacation clothes!

After we return from our honeymoon, about one month later we will be heading to Mexico, where Vlad’s brother will be getting married.  Talk about vacation overload.  Oh yeah, you may be wondering why I haven’t been on vacation for so long.  Well…I am deathly afraid of flying, so I don’t know how I am going to handle this.  Valium anyone?

The Craziness That Is My Life

by noelle on February 24, 2009

You wouldn’t be able to guess what has happened to me in a million years.  My wedding has been post-poned.  Yep that’s correct.  You did not read that wrong.  Our wedding has now been pushed back to May 30th.  That is one month and five days later than it should have been.  Ahhhh.  I am so mad I could literally scream.

You may be wondering why our wedding has been pushed back, well, let me tell you.  My fiance’s brother is in the army, and when we started planning this wedding last February, he had found out that he was going to be in Afghanistan until early March this year.  I asked my fiance, if he was sure he would be back, and he assured me that he would.  So we set the date 2 months after he was supposed to return, only to find out one month ago, that his tour was being extended until Early May.  So my darling Vlad has taken it upon himself to switch the wedding date.  I am so frustrated about this.  There were so many things that I loved about our original date.   I love April so much.  It was the day before our current anniversary.

Le sigh…anyway, we have managed to move everything over, with the exception of the officiant, which isn’t available, and my makeup artist, which had another wedding booked for the new day.  I only lost about $400 in deposits.  We are still not certain about the DJ.  He is supposed to call us back, but still has not.  I am not happy about this change, but I would rather me not be happy then to have Vlad unhappy and moping around because his brother can’t be at the wedding.  Booooo.  I have the crappiest luck around.   Like doesn’t this kind of thing only happen in the movies?

Sinus Problems

by noelle on February 13, 2009

I am constantly battling a clogged, stuffy nose and sinuses.  I have tried countless prescription, and over the counter medications to try to alleviate this problem, but nothing seems to help.   I was in the drug store a few days ago, looking for something new to try, and I came accross this:

neti1

I looked at this tea kettle like object and thought, “Hmmm, how interesting!” and I almost bought it, but stopped myself, as I thought I would research it a little bit first.  When I got home, I discovered that this contraption is called a “Neti Pot” and is used to clean out your sinuses.  I was intrigued.  I read countless reviews on this device (and others much like it) and decided that I would give the neti pot a try.  I ended up ordering a porceline version from an online pharmacy:

neti-pot

This one got really good reviews online.  It will arrive today when I am at work, so hopefully I will be able to pick it up today and give it a try.  I am excited, and hopeful that this thing may actually work.  We will see.

In unrelated news, we found out recently that Vlad’s brother’s tour in Afghanistan may be extended, and that he will not be able to attend our wedding.  He is supposed to be the best man at our wedding that is nearly 2 months away.  Needless to say, Vlad and I are not very happy about this fact.  It pretty much sucks.  But with the wedding so close, there is nothing that can be done, except hope for a miracle.  I have emailed the army trying to get some general information about what can be done in a case like this.  They have not responeded yet.

Busy, busy

by noelle on February 7, 2009

This weekend, I must tackle the task of doing my bridal shower invitations.  I actually found some cute ones at Michaels, and picked them up with a 50% off coupon, so they were quite the bargain.   They are really pretty too.  Anyway, my mom keeps telling me how important it is for them to go out now, so I am going to do it.  I think it’s too early, but oh well.  It will be one less thing left to do.   One of my bridesmaids (Amie) is coming over tonight, so if I am not done, she can help me.

My shower is being held on Sunday March 29th.  My sister is my Maid of Honour,  and is away at University, so my mom, and aunts are throwing the shower for me.  We are having it at an Italian restaurant.  Amie’s mom is making the cake.  It should be fun, I am excited, but I still need to find something to wear to it.  Oh my god, I can’t believe how fast this is sneaking up on me!

I also need to get my wedding invitations done.  I am hoping to get these sent out on February 25.  I already sent out Save The Dates magnets last year.  I made them myself as well, at a fraction of the cost it would have cost me to have them professionally done.

I am also doing the wedding invitations myself, and purchased them at Michaels as well.  I thought this as a way to save some money, as I had over spent in many other areas.  I have already done my mock up and all that is left to do it print, assemble and send.  Here they are.  They include invite, RSVP Card, Map with directions on the back, Entree selection cards.

I would love to get these done this weekend too, but it’s not likely.  Getting this done is one step closer to becoming a wife, and then a mother!  AHHHHH!  So excited!

Way to go Phil!

by noelle on February 2, 2009

Phil Says “Six More Weeks of Winter!”

phil08Phil’s official forecast as read February 2nd, 2009 at sunrise at Gobbler’s Knob:

Hear Ye Hear Ye
On Gobbler’s Knob this glorious Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2009
Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators
Awoke to the call of President Bill Cooper
And greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffiths
After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil proclaimed that his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers were World Champions one more time
And a bright sky above me
Showed my shadow beside me.
So 6 more weeks of winter it will be.

Way to go groundhog!  I am so sick of Winter that I could scream.
