The Waiting Game

by noelle on June 30, 2009

I find myself in what is known in the world of conception as the two-week-wait.  What is the two week wait you ask, well I am going to tell you.  The two-week-wait is the period of time after ovulation has occurred and before Aunt Flo show her ugly face.  It is the period of time where you have done all you could do to try to get pregnant, and all that is left to do is wait until you are far along in the cycle to POAS (that’s “Pee on a Stick” to those of you unfamiliar with the TTC lingidy).  It is the period of time that goes by so slowly, that I am going to go crazy.  Seriously.  Why can’t we have some sort of built in indicator that turns on the morning after conception? That would have been a good idea.  But alas, we are left waiting.  Today I am 4 DPO and I feel totally not pregnant.  I have no symptoms that would make me believe that we have caught the little eggie.  However, it is still early.  I pray to God that I am pregnant.  It would be wonderful.  I don’t think that it is going to happen so fast though, but a girl can dream.  According to Fertility Friend, I should wait until AF is due to test.  This would have me testing in 10 days from now.  I would love to sit here and tell you that I am going to wait until that day, but I have two First Response tests that are dying to get peed on, and are supposed to detect pregnancy 5 days before your missed period.  So, I may be testing a little bit sooner than recommended.  Anyway, I have a pretty busy next 10 days, so I am hoping time goes by faster.  We shall see.

Tomorrow is Canada Day.  We have the day off.  We have a day off in the middle of the week.  Now, I am all about the day off, but couldn’t they just give us the Monday or Friday off instead of the Wednesday.  I am going to get all confused.  On Thursday, I have to work, but then I have Friday off.  Not bad.  Love the 3-day work week!

On Friday, my husband and I will depart for Toronto, and then on Saturday, we depart for what we are affectionately calling “Honeymoon: Part Deux”.  We are going to the Mayan Riveriera for my brother-in-law’s wedding.  Since it is so close to our wedding date, we thought we would take advantage and call this a second honeymoon.  I am excited!  I hope all goes well, i.e. the flight, the swine flu, etc.  Wish us luck!

Our Honeymoon: Negril, Jamaica

by noelle on June 23, 2009

Vlad and I went to Negril, Jamaica for our honeymoon.  It was amazing.  We both loved it.  We stayed at Couples Negril for 7 days.

The resort was absolutely wonderful!  Awesome people, awesome food, awesome drinks, awesome everything!  It was such a relaxing vacation.  Neither of us had been to Jamaica before, so it was really nice to experience it together for the first time.  Check out some of our pics below.

Being married is amazing.  I think it is the fact that I am no longer constantly worrying about the wedding, wedding budget, etc.  I am so happy that the day went so well.  It was almost perfect.  I will give a more detailed post about the wedding when we get our pro pics, but the only issue we had, involved my sister and her dress.  Poor thing.  Its like she absorbed all the bad thinks that could have happened that day.  She was a trooper though.

On the TTC front, there will be no “Made in Jamaica” onsies, unfortunately.  Still working on the baby.  Oh well, we are only on our second cycle trying.  Hopefully we will have better luck this time.  I am still finding hard to belief that we are actually trying to conceive.  I have waited so long for this, that I actually believed that it would never happen.  I am praying to God that I get preggo soon, as I don’t want to be disappointed each month that passes.  I cannot wait for the day that I take a pregnancy test and see those two pink lines.  I think it may take the place of my wedding as the happiest day of my life.  There is nothing I want more in life than to be pregnant!

We are also gearing up to go to Vlad’s brother’s wedding in Mexico.  I am pretty excited to be going on another vacation so soon, but still afraid of the flight, and the swine flu.  But supposedly, we are staying in a “Flu-Free zone”.  We should all have a lot of fun.  We have both been to Mexico before, but neither of us to this location in Mexico.
