First Anniversary and Quilts

by noelle on May 31, 2010

I have been a really bad blogger.  I am sorry.

Yesterday, Vlad and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary.  It was a great day.  I even remembered to defrost our wedding cake so that we could have a piece.  It looked a little smushed, but  it tasted just as good as it did on our wedding day.

Vlad stuck to the traditional gifts (even though we agreed not to exchange gifts), and got me a beautiful leather journal (1st anniversary is paper) and a really nice Parker pen.  He is such a sweetheart.  I am so in love with my husband!!

I finally finished my “Butterfly Garden” quilt a while back (the binding took me forever, because I HATE binding), but never got around to posting about it.  Here it is:

Yesterday, I finished the quilt I was making for Vlad.  The pattern is Wild Things by Thimble Blossoms.  I hope he likes it:

I have just started Jelly Filled (another Thimble Blossoms pattern), using Verna by Kate Spain.  It is for my sister.

Anyway, nothing else is new or interesting.

Shiny New Things

by noelle on September 6, 2009

My trusty old, and I mean old, laptop finally became too old to use anymore (RIP little friend), so I had to go and buy a new laptop.  I really loved my old Compaq laptop, and for the past four plus years, it has given me little to no grief, and has served its purpose extremely well.  All it ever needed was a memory upgrade to keep up with the demand of newer software, and a new AC adapter when the old one broke (my fault though…the way I rest the laptop would cause the cord to bend, which eventually caused failure).  My Sister on the other hand was not so lucky with her Dell laptop.  In the past two years  it had needed several parts replaced, and then had a total hardware failure causing Dell to have to replace it with a new one, which continued to give her issues.  She finally gave in and bought an HP, hoping to have the same luck that I did with my Compaq, which is now the owned by HP, or vice versa, I don’t remember.  So far, so good.  Anyway, I decided to stick with HP too.  Here is my new baby, the HP DV4-1454:

My Laptop

I love it!  It is so much faster than my old laptop.  I don’t even mind Vista either.  My only complaint is the design of the keyboard.   The changed the size and shape of the shift and enter keys.  They are smaller than they used to be, and have another key in the place where the key used to be.  This is causing me to hit the ‘\’  key in the place of shift or enter quite frequently.  I am sure I will get used to it though.

I also got a cute clock and a couple plaques for in the kitchen from Pier 1 and Home Sense.

And these wire Live, Laugh, and Love signs from Pier 1.  I hung them up over the window in the living room.  I think they look cute there.

But my favourite purchase is by far the cutest coat hooks I have ever seen in my life.   I have been looking for coat hooks for by the front door for a long time now.  I didn’t want plain old hooks.  I wanted something cute and unique.  Well, I found them!  These door knob hooks from Pier 1 are my favs!  They are so cute and colourful and very functional as well.

Aren’t they cute?  I LOVE them!
