Alex and Libby

by noelle on April 21, 2011

On March 28th, 2011, my life changed forever.  Elizabeth (Libby) and Alexander (Alex)  were born at 3:03pm and 3:20pm, weighing 5lbs 11oz and 6lbs 1oz respectively.  There birth was very difficult, and I am not ready to post about it yet, but I will say that I did deliver both babies vaginally, and avoided having a c-section.

Here is a couple pics of them at the hospital:

Alex and Libby:

I have to admit, it has been a lot harder than I thought it would be.  My husband took 2 months off work and is helping me with everything, but it is still really hard to take care of twins.  I can’t imagine more than two.  My hat is off to moms of multiples.

I was hoping to breastfeed both babies, but it has not worked out as I had hoped.  My son is not interested in the breast at all, although he loves breast milk.  My daughter will breastfeed, but she only gets it about once a day from the breast.  During the day, the babies both get pumped breastmilk.  During the night, they get formula.  I would love to give them only breast milk, but I am not making enough to feed both babies all day long.  Hopefully, I can get my supply up, but I am not going to worry about it.  They are getting breastmilk, and that is the most important thing.

We had our doctor appointment yesterday and Libby is up to 7lbs 8oz and Alex is up to 7lbs 3oz.  Libby is a great eater.  Alex is lazy.  Getting him to finish his bottle can take some work.

Here they are from this week at 3 weeks old:

I am so in love with these little people.  I think that they are just the cutest, most darling things in the world!

Update

by noelle on March 4, 2011

Wow!  I kind of abandoned this blog.  It has been a long time since I posted, and I think it is time for a much needed update.  Well, the biggest news that I have to share is that I am 34 weeks pregnant with twins!  Yep, that’s right…TWINS!!!

We found out in the beginning of August that I was pregnant!  It was the most exciting thing I have ever experienced.  After trying for a year, we were finally going to have a baby!

When I was 9 weeks pregnant, we went to the doctor for our first ultrasound, and discovered that we were expecting two sweet little babies.  Both measured on track and had strong heartbeats.

We were both really excited!  At our anatomy scan we were told that we were have a boy and a girl!  What a great gift!  Here are a couple of profile picks of the two.  They were done at different times, but we never get good pics of both at the same time.

Baby A, our little girl:

Baby B, our little boy:

Currently, I am 34 weeks pregnant and HUGE!  We are hoping to make it to 38 weeks.  I can’t believe that in a maximum of 4 weeks I will be meeting my daughter and my son.  I am over the moon.  Here are my belly pics that I took so far.  I haven’t kept up with them like I wanted to, but what can you do.  The first pic is 4 weeks.

Anyway, that is my big update! I hope to post more regularly now, but we will see. I think I am going to be pretty busy soon! I am so happy, and so thankful for these babies!

Nothing to report

by noelle on July 2, 2010

Nothing new here.   I have been working on my sister’s quilt, and have finally got it pinned and ready for the quilting.  Here it is:

I love it!  I hope she loves it too!  When I was putting on the borders yesterday, I actually sewed my thumb.  This is the first time that this has ever happened to me, and let me tell you.  It hurt like HELL!  NEVER keep your foot on the pedal when touching the needle.  I accidentally put the tiniest bit of pressure on the pedal and the needle was in my thumb.  Worst part is that I pulled my hand away, and tore my thumb away, instead of just pulling my thumb off the needle.  Here it is (please ignore my gross cuticles…I need a mani badly!):

First Anniversary and Quilts

by noelle on May 31, 2010

I have been a really bad blogger.  I am sorry.

Yesterday, Vlad and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary.  It was a great day.  I even remembered to defrost our wedding cake so that we could have a piece.  It looked a little smushed, but  it tasted just as good as it did on our wedding day.

Vlad stuck to the traditional gifts (even though we agreed not to exchange gifts), and got me a beautiful leather journal (1st anniversary is paper) and a really nice Parker pen.  He is such a sweetheart.  I am so in love with my husband!!

I finally finished my “Butterfly Garden” quilt a while back (the binding took me forever, because I HATE binding), but never got around to posting about it.  Here it is:

Yesterday, I finished the quilt I was making for Vlad.  The pattern is Wild Things by Thimble Blossoms.  I hope he likes it:

I have just started Jelly Filled (another Thimble Blossoms pattern), using Verna by Kate Spain.  It is for my sister.

Anyway, nothing else is new or interesting.
